Disney's live-action remakes of past animated favorites have visually reached a high point with this sumptuous version of Cinderella. Really, you could watch it simply for the gorgeous gowns at the Ball. And Ella's pumpkin coach is sensational. Perhaps Kate Blanchette's stepmother is a bit overwrought at times, but Lily James' ever-radiant face overshadows any possible negatives.
A slightly more mature, live-action retelling of the Disney animated version with gorgeous costumes, good character-building, and a great moral--"Have courage and be kind."--that gives Cinderella her motivation throughout the story without becoming trite. Fans of the original animated version will miss the songs and the mice and bird characters (who are present, but mostly as background characters), but the added back-stories for many characters more than make up for anything that got cut. I thoroughly enjoyed this Disney reboot!
Very touching and great use of the best ballgowns you could possibly imagine. Amazing dancing and great teamwork as the ball takes place on the great marble floor of the pales. The prince and soon to be princess Ella will blow you away with their amazing dance as they hit it off on the dance floor! BY CHEEKY BOB :)👸 🤴 P.S This movie just might be better then Christmas! (But only just!)🎅
Some gorgeous dresses. that was my favourite bit. Cate Blanchett in particular wearing some great clothes. A good solid retelling of the tale, aimed at slightly older audience than the original, though still fun for the whole family. Fleshing out the "evil" stepmother character for a change. Cate Blanchett stunning as always.
Beautiful scenery and costumes, good acting, and amazing special effects. Awesome adaptation!
A mature version of the original Disney cartoon. Diverse casting of the prince's ball. Explore the history of the characters with courage and honesty with some funny one liners. Great scenery, costumes and special effects.
Very GOOD! The acting was good, and all the dresses and actors matched the time of the story! The special effects were some of the best, and I love this movie and suggest it to all people who love happily ever after movies!
AWESOME! Wonderful entertainment, direction, romance, perfect acting, and script. This film is a real terrific family movie you must all see whether you are children or adults.
Classic. Can't go wrong with this new version of Cinderella. Cate Blanchett as the stepmom plays "desperate" mean unbelievably well.
Kenneth Branagh did an excellent job directing this movie. it is a beautiful adaptation with a wonderful message..Have courage and be kind :)
This movie is BEUTIFUL. I love how all the characters are played out so well. There aren't any crazy twisters that would make you go mad at all the filmmakers. Definitely 5 stars!!
Next to Ever After, this is the best adaptation of this classic story. I loved this movie. It was grounded and I loved the portrayal of Cinderella in this one. She was living by her credo, be brave and be kind. I actually liked it better than the cartoon because the animal subplot is diminished. She still talks to the animals, but they don't answer her. It conveys her loneliness without making her crazy.
the fairy godmother was the best character
very bright, very Disney
I prefer the animated version
Ooh ... Aah ... Aww !!! Great family entertainment and a wonderful remake of the familiar fairy tale. Unlike earlier versions, this is not a musical and the script expanded to the happy days when Cinderella was brought up by her parents to be kind and brave; also an explanation on why this particular step mother (Cate Blanchett) was so wicked. The songs during the end credits are worth listening with captions on: "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" and "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo" (See video and youtube link to the entire soundtrack.)
Delightful....so glad they didn't burst into song. Best version so far. The colors used in this film were magnificent.
This movie easily appealed to the part of my heart still holding on to a bit of adolescence. A handsome prince, a country girl, a cruel (but fashionable) step mother, and a delightful fairy godmother, was indeed a recipe for delight. I simply adored the dancing scene with Cinderella and the prince.
This is very much a movie aimed at children. My 3 year old and 7 year old sons both watched and enjoyed this movie. I was delighted to find a movie that our whole family could watch together. The movie is surprisingly light-hearted and to my relief the step-mother is not played as an EVIL villain, which made the film tolerable for my normally sensitive kids.
Great family movie - Cinderella is a lovely fairy tale.
I really appreciated how the movie really showed Ella's kindness and why she is the way she is. The rest of the characters play their roles in a standard way you'd expect, though. Fun magic regardless.
