Has a little bit of the flavor of R Scott Bakker's Warrior-Prophet without that author's dense writing style. His charactor's are complex, interesting and believable but not warm. But nevertheless this promises to be a captivating series.

Rather a meld between Joe Abercrombie and Greg Keyes, it's an absorbing read. The world building is done very well and the characters are quite believable and often times do not behave in expected ways. Have really enjoyed it.
