I like it a lot and i think every one should read it

This book is a little more serious than the Whatever After series, but it was a good book. Nory and her classmates magic is unusual. They have to learn how to accept that everyone is different and learn how to use their powers.

This book is kind of kiddish for me but I still enjoyed it a lot. This series is about a group of kids who have wonky/upside-down magic. There's Nora the shape shifter that mixes up animals, Elliott can conjure up some fire only for it to turn into ice, and many other students that are just like them. This group of kids want to fix their magic, but after some experiences, they start to realize that having wonky powers aren't bad. In fact, it's good. All in all, I think this book is worth four stars.

Enchanting fantasy for grades 2 -5. What happens to kids when their magic goes "wonky"? Together Nory and her fellow classmates learn to accept the differences in each other and themselves. Quiet humor and authentic characters make this a spellbinding read.

This book is a rather unsubtle trifle about embracing what is different and special about oneself rather than trying to fit in with the cool crowd. But the writers (three of them? Seems a little excessive for a children’s book) give us an occasionally playful look at the desperate Nory, her desire to make friends at her new school and please her overly demanding father by getting her unstable magical abilities under control.

Nory is unusually sober and biddable for a child. However, she shows moments of forcefulness as well. It is her determination to become a respectable Fluxer (someone capable of becoming an animal while retaining their human mental faculties) that propels her again and again to coax the equally inept Elliott into gaining a grip on his magic as well.

But of course the message of the book wins out eventually. Nory does make friends not with her magic but by reaching out to others. Following her example, every one of the outsiders uses their “wonky” magic to save an imperiled member of their class. Embrace who you are, what’s different about you is what makes you special, etc.

The ending of the book pleases even if it provides no real surprises. It should be pleasant fare for children who want a slightly different story about what it means to deal with magic.

I think this book is a great and magical read. Magic is the main action in the book, but it is not at all like Harry Potter, and so it is a very original book. I recommend this book if you like magic and friendship stories.
