"The winter of 1884/85 was one of the coldest winters on Alberta records. Because of starvation many elders and young babies of Big Bear's tribe died of pneumonia. On April 2nd, 1885 a mob of angry Natives under leadership of the Cree War Chief Wandering Spirit looted the small settlement of Frog Lake burning it to the ground. Nine villagers, including two Catholic Priests, were brutally murdered. Could the villagers have prevented this dark period in Canadian history?
