This book is impossible even improbable. So why did I read it in its entirety? Because I don't believe in starting a book and not finishing it. Caleb Rooney is a cop who is facing trial for a murder in the line of duty. He is so upset that he quits his job. He continues his job as "Killer Chef," where he dishes out tasty food from a truck. He comes to believe that his beloved city of New Orleans could well be under the threat of terrorism right during Mardi Gras. That's when the impossibility starts. Rooney singlehandedly outsmarts the FBI, the New Orleans Police Department and their SWAT teams, the a national guard and in the face of insurmountable odds saves the city. If you like a larger than life hero who comes out ahead, you will like this book but if you want your book to be realistic don't even start this one.

Would not finish the book, to me, it was the worst book written by my favorite author. No star rating

A fun and action-packed start to a new James Patterson series set in New Orleans.

Disappointing. Did Patterson actually write any of this?

The Chef is one of the WORST books I have read in many years. The most memorable character is a V-10 LamBO (Yes, a car). By the last couple of chapters, I actually wanted the main character to die off so there could never be a sequel. If James Patterson actually WROTE any of this book then I am sad to report that we have lost one of our greatest fiction writers. If you are expecting the main character to be an Alex Cross/Michael Bennett clone, think again. What we actually get is an 8 year old (posing as an adult) with anger management issues that can survive getting hit in the head with a baseball bat, a crow bar, broken ribs and still sprint down and tackle a bad guy on the side walk in 90+ degree heat!!! Oh, Please! Save yourself some time and just skip to the end of the book where there are recipes for the New Orleans style food that is highlighted throughout the book.
Update: Rep. Adam Schiff Head, Intelligence Committee is investigating to see if the Russians blackmailed James Patterson to put his name on this "book". ;->
