An okay movie, but not as good as Bohemian in every way. Probably because at its core Elton John is a genius but not a tragic figure and in the end is very happy. Bohemian was great because it elicits the loss we feel knowing someone was lost too early. Just a different feel and theme which makes this movie a lesser of the two.

Is this a movie or a music video you tell me?

Decent. It's more musical than biopic. I love Elton and his music, but I would have enjoyed learning a bit more about his life and having fewer dance numbers.

It held my attention for the first half of the movie, but then there were too many gay-scenes that I was fast-forwarding and just lost interest in the movie. I've looked at Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) depicting Queen, gave the movie a shot and liked it, so I'm not totally put off by some gay-scenes in a movie, so long as the overall story makes sense. I should be able to fast-forward some parts without losing the movie itself. However, this movie I think crosses the line and felt more like a gay porn flick.

Hugely disappointed. I was prepared to watch a biopic not a series of musical numbers. The best parts of the movie were non musical.

i don't understand what many people have against Reg. Too many repetitions of his songs? I missed the inside scoop of his collaborations with Neil Sedaka, and with John Lennon. That would have been going deeper into his career than films like this are created to go. Still.....'twould have been nice./ What was the first Elton John song i ever heard? ROCKET MAN, on my cheap little clock radio, in my very own bedroom, in San Mateo, California. KNEW, i believe, had a top 10 countdown every Sunday night. Man, that spacey guitar was certainly eeirie sounding. "Mars ain't the kind of place/ to raise your kids/ In fact, it's cold as hell/ And there's no one there to raise them/ If you did......"/ My fondest memory of my sister, Celia, is standing next to her, whilst KYA or KFRC played TINY DANCER. This song was later used to good effect in the film, ALMOST FAMOUS. And 'Silly' later became a big fan of BLUE MOVES, as she had moved to Redwood City, and had remained an Elton fan, but had progressed in her musical appreciation skills.

I almost gave up on this after ten minutes, but the boy playing Young Elton was so cute I held on. I'm glad I did. Nothing new or surprising in the film, nothing secret revealed. I kept having flashbacks to Rocky Horror Picture show, and at times the campiness was a bit much. Still it seemed a fitting tribute to Elton--fame, drugs, abuse, collapse, fame.

An awesome movie...the music bought back memories...especially “Your Song “ I definitely recommend this movie.

This musical style biography of Elton John was a tongue in cheek look at an amazing rock legend.
We are introduced to Reggie when he's a child and we are shown how unwelcoming his family was and learn possibly why he did the things he did.

The music was fantastic. Taron Egerton did an excellent job representing Elton. Same with Bryce Dallas Howard portraying Elton's mom.
There are some scenes in this movie that are exceedingly graphic so be warned. The subject matter did make my heart hurt.

If you enjoy music, biopic and Elton John, watch this movie.
You'll be singing along and long after the movie is done.
