I enjoyed that the book had events that took place all over the world, from Macau to Cairo to Chicago to the island of Capri and then to Rome. Each of these locations seemed to be fairly accurately described. Agent Harvath's new female partner was good and seemed to play off of him pretty well. There was non-stop action that pulled me through the entire book at a fast pace. The author seems to have really hit his stride with this series and I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

In this sequel to the Lions of Lucerne Scott Harvath is tracking the people who provided support to the Lions and who are trying to start a Middle East war. This entry is pure escapism. There’s some good ‘trade craft’ described and Thor has done his research on technical details. However, his insight into the Middle East is far less than Alex Berenson’s. Also, the quibbling with Harvath’s CIA counterparts and the games played by people who are supposed to work together seem totally artificial and intended to provide filler for what should be a shorter book. If you miss the late Vince Flynn’s writing, Brad Thor will do in a pinch.

This is a fun ride and well written. Some of the initial scenes with Meg Cassidy are fantastic and I would say worth reading the book just for those scenes.

I was kind of disappointed with the ending and may go back and read it again as it almost seemed to me that Brad Thor decided he had enough pages so he just ended it.

I'd recommend if you like terrorism / action / thriller books.

I'm just onto the 89th page of the book. Seems in check so far. If you like this book, I would recommend the Kyle Swanson sniper series. Lots of black-ops stuff. Can't get enough special-ops novels!
