Follows Mma Ramotste, a recently bereaved woman, as she sets up the only woman-run Private Detective Agency in Botswana and her attempts to get it off the ground. She gets help from Mma Makutsi, her new secretary, and Mr. JLB Matekoni, the owner and super mechanic of the wonderful Speedy Motors. Mma Ramotste takes on cases, meets many new people who need her help - from a woman who thinks the man who has turned up at her door is not her father, to another lady who has a boyfriend who may or may not be faithful to her.

Oh, no! Is there no hope that the series will be continued on DVD?

I enjoy watching movies and TV shows from around the world. I am glad to find something set and filmed in Africa (Botswana). I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to everyone. I only wish there were more episodes!

I highly recommend this series. The characters are all quirky and adorable and each episode has Precious, the main character and lady detective, following two to three cases to their satisfying conclusion. The great bonus with these short stories is the background of setting--in this case Zimbabwe, Africa. It truly gives the viewer the flavor of everyday life in a small rural African village. Absolutely lovely.

Even if you have read and loved the books, watch this series. I am heartbroken that they did not continue the program. None of the characters are too good or too evil to seem real, and the views of the countryside make my memories of the books come alive with more color and more desolation that I have imagined.

This is a very amusing performance of the cozy mystery book series by Alexander McCall Smith. It is infused with strong Botswana community pride!

My husband and I adored the books and were delighted to find and watch this wonderful series! Family oriented, with a deft, light, humorous touch, and just the right brush with danger that makes detecting and solving the cases so intriguing. Mma Ramstste is fabulous - but the real scene stealer here is Mma Makutski, her side-kick secretary who often likes to remind us and everyone else of her exceptional 97% score at her secretarial school What a hoot to watch her in action... Completely charming series and wish there were more in production. Enjoy - 5 stars all the way!

This was great! A refreshing view of South Africa with a very addicting story about a lady detective in a place where you would not suspect "detecting" would be needed. Very well written comedy with lots of drama, great cast and wow it pulls you in. More episodes please!!

Outstanding adaptation of Alexander McCall Smith's books about the nation of Botswana, its music, and its people! Stars Jill Scott (singer, musician and actress) as a most unlikely detective in Gaborone, Botswana's capitol city. It mixes drama and comedy in clever plots, slower paced stories where getting to know the characters is more important than solving the crimes sometimes. In the course of 7 episodes, one learns a lot about "the African heart", something you can't say about any other series I know. Especially enjoyed the special features about author, McCall Smith and Director, Anthony Minghella of "English Patient" fame. Highly recommended!
