I like action films. But this was boring. Slick one liners. Slim story line glued together by fighting, fires and things blowing up. I’m going back to when Vin Diesel was the star. Don’t take an idea and tack onto it, like they did to The Fast and The Furious. Call this series ‘Hobbs and Shaw’. Or ‘Hulking and Lawless’.

Hobbs! Shaw! They're both bald, they're both gruff, they're both dudes. Honestly, I kinda had trouble telling them apart. The full, awkward title "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw," which makes it the 9th entry. Basically, the F&F gang was, like, "How do we make a James Bond movie that's also a F&F movie? And how do we make it without Vin Diesel?" It's silly, it's too long, it's full of terrible banter. But then again, Idris Elba as the bad guy and a Kevin Hart cameo! You watch this for the action, and there's plenty of it, much of it better than in previous movies because the director did "John Wick," the best action series of the last 10 years. Will we see more Hobbs & Shaw or Shaw & Hobbs? I did learn that Dwayne Johnson is from Samoa, which is where the finale is set.

This is everything I want in a Fast & the Furious spin-off movie! Over-the-top. Ridiculous. Amazing. The action was non-stop, only to be interrupted by the Hobbs and Shaw insults flying back and forth. Hattie Shaw is a welcome addition to the Fast & The Furious world. Her intelligence and ability to hold her own in the fight scenes left me cheering for her. Cannot wait for the next installment!

This franchise has come a long way! It has Sci-Fi elements now! Overall a decent action movie.

I didn't expect much and got even less. I could scarcely believe how droll this was. Couldn't imagine paying to see this dreck.

NOT my type of movie... A Sci- FI Fast n Furious type SLO-MO scenes in an unbelievable style fast action plot. I turned it off !/4 way thru.

Even by action movie standards, the plot is ridiculous. However, putting that aside, the action is great and the interplay between the characters if funny and entertaining. Dwayne Johnson always seems to brings humor and charm to his movies. I was previously not familiar with actress Vanessa Kirby, but thought she was great in this movie.

It is Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson-DSS/CIA) & Shaw (Jason Statham-exUKSF/MI6) against Brixton (Idris Elba-bad guy from an evil empire.) For their equal, there is sister Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby-MI6 field agent.) If you think there is insufficient star power, add in DJ's "friends" in mini-roles: Queenie Shaw (Helen Mirren-mom,) Agent Locke (Ryan Reynolds - CIA) and Air Marshal Dinkley (Kevin Hart.) With non-stop witty puerile bantering between the grown ups, a fun action watch with elements of supervillain and superhero, abide the Batman/Gotham City kind.

Lame and boring.

I'm wondering that the script for this film was written by a committee or was the amalgamation of the screenwriter's 1/2-baked myriad ideas that they couldn't otherwise complete or sell. Yes, this is made by and a film w/in the Fast & Furious franchise -- yes, what goes on in those films is not reality -- this film, however, goes into the level of sci-fi. While I <3 sci-fi, and the sci-fi elements of this film on their own are good, this is a big-budget patchwork of cyberpunk / action / noted action stars / Rock's Hakka / left-over FF gags / the first 30 minutes not really going anywhere. Overall it confuses and sullies the FF series arc while riding on its coattails. It wasn't horrible, but I'd prefer to remove it from my FF experience if I could. :/

Luke Hobbs: I'm what you call an ice-cold can of whoop-ass.

Silly but "clean" dialogue throughout but only two F-bombs. Many are posted in IMDb already. Thanks to the contributors. Here are a few of my favorites that are so unexpected ... These below are not in IMDb yet as of this AM:

The minute he gets involved, you can kiss goodbye to any finesse because She-Hulk here only knows how to smash.
Look at me. I'm Black Superman. Bulletproof. New spine. And the more machine I become, the more humane I am.
The evolution of man is coming whether you like it or not.
-You know, I almost feel bad for you. It's not the smell that fills your head with.
It's bullshxt.
That's, uh, "sumbitch" in your native tongue.
-That'd be "wanker" in your native tongue.
You finished blabbering? You sound like a giant tattooed baby.
