I started reading this book as part of "The Big Read." I must confess I couldn't get into it. But once I'd read a little it got quite gripping. The book is not all about one man killing tens of hundreds of enemy soldiers. On the contrary the most telling comment that Chris Kyle makes in the book is "It's not about the people you saved that you remember; it's the ones you couldn't save." We who are blase about war and sit on our couches and discuss the merits and demerits of an encounter ought to read this book which tells it from the frontlines.
