I love how intelligent and interesting this author is. By Bryant and May standards, this story is tame and easy on the heart; not scary, not that weird, not tragic or gory (then I recall the hanging victim, the defenestration victim, and another that I can't tell you about, and I realize that by normal standards...) The presence of Punch and Judy puppets is the freakiest thing, too much like clowns if you ask me. The chapters have names such as Scaramouche, Despair, Victoriana, and Automata. Enjoy!
