Addictive series, visually appealing (locations/sets and cast), heroic and interesting/complex characters, gender-equal society. The charm of these Vikings is that in spite of their lust for bloody battles and conquest, their everyday manner is ridiculously soft-spoken -- "ridiculous" because they are soft-spoken all the time, all of them. This is a nice break from the usual barbarian swordfight shows with the men incessantly spit-screaming. Extra points for the absence of shrieking whimpering victim/sex-object females. Nit-picks: (1) slow-paced/dragged-out at times; (2) redundancy in the acting - all the men seem to do this wannabe-menacing head-tilt thing. It doesn't come off as a cultural mannerism; more like everyone trying to copy Ragnar.
