A lot more intense than the 'John Wayne' version of Hollywood combat ! The 'friendly fire' is heart breaking ! There is an honest absence of cliches or 'soft-soaping',.. added with serious production values, profane dialogue, realistic(!) combat gore, recreational whoring, and excellent locations that double for Viet Nam, It succeeds in being pro-'G.I.',..but could not be called pro-war. (P.S. It may be too bloody for children.)
