I enjoyed the Peaky Blinder series - unfortunately SPL only has seasons 1 & 2. It lasted 5 seasons. The story revolves around a group (a gang) of men living in Birmingham, England in 1919. The gang is lead by the Shelby brothers who control the criminal underground in the area - gambling, booze, babes, etc. They are called the Peaky Blinders because they wear razor blades in their caps (making for good bloody fighting.) The cast is excellent with Cillian Murphy and Sam Neill. It is very violent and moves a bit slowly at times, but the characters and the setting are interesting. Season 2 had rival gangs competing with political influence and involvement; from the English Secret Service to Irish Fenian Nationalists to the IRA, Communists and Anarchists. Gets a bit involved . . . The underlying love story continues throughout the first two seasons. Most of the men are suffering from WWI PTSD which affects their behavior. The male characters who did not serve are usually disliked and distrusted in the storyline. Not sure where the story goes for the next three seasons. Worth watching if you can take the violence. Tommy Shelby (Murphy) wants to get into legitimate businesses--can he do it and survive?
