Based on a true story, Hidden Figures is a movie about the U.S. and Russian race to put the first man in space. The movie focuses on three brilliant African-American women who worked for NASA. Because this took place in 1961, it was a time of racial and gender inequality. This means that the woman were looked down upon and not treated with the same respect as the men. Hidden Figures is such an inspirational movie that proves that a woman can do anything a man can do (and sometimes better). There actors did an amazing job of portraying the real-life women. I recommend this movie to anyone over 12 years old, especially right now with so much racial inequality in the world. I give this movie a 5/5. @GymGirl of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board I watched Hidden Figures. It is a historical movie. My favorite parts of the movie were when Katherine spoke up. This gave me chills because of her acting and you can see the pain of her always going to the bathroom which is another building. Another part I liked was when Harris broke the colored sign I was so happy because it was the right thing to do. I don't think there is anything that could have been better in the movie. I think they highlighted everything that happens and is still happening. I would recommend this to a friend especially what happened with George Floyd this has been happening for decades and people should know the history of black people. I think they made this movie to show how black people have been treated years ago and what struggles they went through. I rate this movie a 5/5. @doglover of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library Hidden Figures is a movie based on the lives of 3 African-American female mathematicians who played a huge role in one of the greatest NASA projects ever. Mary Jackson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Katherine Johnson defied all barriers, racial prejudice, and hardships, and used their intellect to help push the world forward. Hidden Figures allows you to revisit a time where segregation was still a reality and inspires you to share your abilities no matter what. If you are a fan of inspirational movies that showcase influential female figures, or even just a good movie to watch with the family, this is the movie for you! I rate this movie 5/5 stars. @CoolReadz of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board This film covers the true story of three brilliant African American Women and their involvement at NASA and their role in sending John Glenn into orbit. Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson are beautifully portrayed throughout this story as their past of struggle, racism, sexism, and more is uncovered. The movie brilliantly showcases the lives that they lived and their contributions to one of the largest moments in American History. The United States has a complicated history with race and sex discrimination that was brought to light through this film so that the women could get the recognition that they deserved. I would rate this film 4.5/5 stars and recommend it to history buffs and those interested in space travel and technology. @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
