Lisa Gardner knows how to write serious crime thrillers and delivers again with WHEN YOU SEE ME. A chance event when a hiker uncovers a human bone in a heavily forested. rural area leads to FBI supervisory Kimberly Quincy and Boston homicide detective D. D. Warren being reunited with former kidnapping survivor Flora Dane and her computer genius friend, Keith Edgar. Crime scene evidence connects the body of a young women, to Jacob Ness, Flora's kidnapper, long since dead. The four become part of task force that discovers more bodies and keeps everyone confused about what is going on. That's it as a set up, no more spoilers from me. The plot is ingenious, the character development is strong, and the highly complex crime involved isn't what you think until it unfolds in the latter part of the book. Of note, please see Lisa Gardner's acknowledgments at the end of the book which address how little she started this book with and how she got it to a great novel, and the people who helped her make it so.
